How to Deal with Perfectionism?
Hi Armys!! πππHow are you?
It's been a while. Life has been so busy for me lately. I couldn't write a new blog post last week. I wrote in my list to do on what I should do in a day as it helps me to stay productive, but I often pressure myself too much if I can't complete it. I will overthink about it and try to force myself to do it and it ended up affecting my mental and physical health. I was a perfectionist before and now, I still am, just not as much as before. So, today I want to share tips to deal with perfectionism. Some tips for me and those who need it.
1) Learn to let go of what we can't control
- Sometimes, unexpected things happened. No matter how organized our day can be, there will always be some spontaneous moments that can affect our list to do. Hence, if it's something that you can't control such as people's behaviors, sickness etc., learn to accept it. It's okay tomorrow we can try again.
2) Don't pressure yourself too much
- Everything in life needs balance. Giving pressure on yourself does help in making you move forward in life but, by pressuring yourself too much, you'll end up stumbling along the way. So, take one step at a time and give your best efforts at that one task first.
3) Celebrate your wins whether big or small
- Every achievement whether it is big or small, deserves to be celebrated and appreciated. List your progress each day or each week and read it back at the end of the month.
4) Set realistic goals
- Perfectionists tend to set unrealistic goals for themselves. This will end up causing them to burn out in the long run. Thus, use a SMART method to set your goal.
Lastly, I want to share another quote from BTS.
I hope this post will be helpful and give you some motivation.
